Gallery label	English garden flowers - particularly pansies and full-blown roses - have motivated Susan Duckworth's bold, colourful work. She had Liberty's chintzes in mind when designing this versatile sweater, which she describes as wearable 'either dressed-up and extravagant or quietly classic'.(1997) 'CABBAGE ROSE' SWEATER Hand-knitted wool and angora British: Susan Duckworth, Autumn/Winter 1985 This loose-fitting sweater in stocking stitch has an asymmetrical neckline and decorative fastening with four buttons across the left shoulder. Recently, rose motifs have been much favoured by knitwear designers. Set against a black background these roses are reminscent of Victorian 'Berlin woolwork' embroidery. Susan Duckworth runs a cottage industry employing outworkers from her home in Surrey. This sweater has received a Design Centre Award. Given by Susan Duckworth T.311-1985(1985)
