Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Bill Gibb launched his own label in the early 1970s, with instant success. His fascination with a variety of textile techniques is typified by this hand-painted velvet ensemble. Gibb used the panels of these garments as canvases for a moody landscape in which a bright rainbow arches over a glowering sky and corn field. The ensemble’s long, lean line is emphasised by the asymmetrical cut of the tunic. Sandi Lacey, who created Bill Gibb’s graphics, wore this and other Bill Gibb designs.
