Object history | On loan to the South Kensington Museum from 1876 and acquired in 1920. Information recorded in the acquisition register, "Worn by women of the West Provinces of Sri Lanka." Given by H. M. Commissioners for the Exhibition of 1851. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Museum records (Asia Department registers and/or Central Inventory) as part of a 2023 provenance research project.
