An elaborately carved ivory shrine, depicting, in the centre, the goddess Durga with eight arms presiding over the killing of the buffalo demon Mahishasura, who is being savaged by the goddess's lion mount. She is flanked by Lakshmi and Saraswati, with Ganesh and Kartikeya on the outer sides. The shrine is surmounted by a semi-circular frieze with low relief carving depicting mythological scenes.
