The Virgin Mary, wearing a pale blue robe over a red gown, holds the Christ Child in her hands. Jesus raises his hand in blessing. The Virgin offers Jesus to the priest Simeon who wears a red robe over a yellow gown; his chest and hands are covered with a white cloth in readiness for holding the Child. Joseph stands behind Simeon. He wears a pale green robe over a yellow gown and is holding a basket of doves. The Virgin's mother, Anne, stands behind her. The whole scene is placed beneath an elaborate canopied structure which resembles stained glass panels of the 14th century.
