The V&A owns six pictures by this artist, but nothing is known about him except that he was a British painter, active around 1854. The pictures form a series of full-length portraits drawn on chocolate-brown tinted paper and mounted in pairs. They date from between July and November 1854 and depict chiefs from various places in the Jhelum and Hazara districts of the Panjab, then in India, now in Pakistan. This one is a portrait of Muhammad Khan of Peera Fattyal from the Jhelum district.
