Object history
In his book The Life and Letters of Samuel Palmer, A. H. Palmer states that his father visited Devon and Cornwall four times between the years 1848 and 1858. A letter form the artist to Edward Calvert dated 25 June 1848 describes the wild scenery of the north Cornish coast.
