Embroidered panel of silks on cotton. Upper edge and sides hemmed. The lower edge formed by the selvege. Rust stained tack holes on the edge of the ground fabric show that the embroidery was tacked to a back board for display.

Production
Made ca.1890, after an illustration published in 1877 by Walter Crane taken from his illustrated book 'The Baby's Opera'. Ground fabric with drawn pattern manufactured for and retailed by William Whiteley, Westbourne Grove, London.
