Mat Collishaw is one of the group of artists know in the 1990s as the YBA's (Young British Artists) who had studied at Goldsmith's College, and went on to exhibit their work in a series of seminal Group shows, including 'Freeze'(1988) and 'Sensation' (1997). This image comes from a series of computer-manipulated photographs. It appears as a dense collage of organic forms, but layered within the image one can see an orchid, a porn model and a flesh-eating tropical plant.
This print was published by Counter Editions in 2000 in a portfolio of 14 works by contemporary artists.
