Object history | This votive figure was obtained from the foundations of a Buddhist Temple at Wuntho in the Katha District. (N. E. of Mandalay). It is believed to have been acquired by Colonel Pollard (the donor's husband) while serving in Burma in the late 19th century. Nos. IM 49 to 65-1912 (a collection of Burmese figures representing Gautum Buddha) purchased for £20 from Mrs M M Pollard. Purchased from Mrs M M Pollard, 28 Longridge Road, Earl's Court, SW. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Museum records (Asia Department registers and/or Central Inventory) as part of a 2023 provenance research project. RP 1912-2542M |
