Costume for a cherub consisting of:
Double coronet of stiffened wire lined with elastic at the back, fixed with wired leaves in brilliant fuschia plush.
Shorts in brilliant fuschia silk with triple inverted pleat back and front centre with broad sash attached to waistband at the back.
Bolero in brilliant fuschia pink wild silk, edged with bands of brilliant fuschia wild silk woven with a fine green diagonal stripe. Fixed to the back is a panel with two stiffened 'cherub' wings covered with shocking pink and pink mauve feathers with, on the inside elastic straps to fit around the arms. The bolero is lined with matching artificial silk.

The costume was designed by Alison Chitty for a child playing a Putti in Rinuccini's opera Arianna, produced by the Royal Opera in 1995.

Historical significance: The costume is one of the few child's costumes in the Museum collections.
