Bibliographic reference | The original set was presumed to have been engraved in Holland during the exile of Charles II, and is reproduced in Lady Schreiber's 'Playing Cards of Various Ages and Counties' (1892), Vol. 1, plates 15-18. Only three perfect packs of the original are known to exist, one of which has an additional card lettered 'To be sold by R.T. near Stationer Hall, at the Black Bull in Cornhill'. This is referenced in Jean Hamilton's catalogue (n. 234), 'Playing Cards in the Victoria & Albert Museum' (1988).
