In the centre is a gold monogram JMC in red and gold above the date 1787, all enclosed within an oval medallion surrounded by ribbon, palms, garlands and the head of an animal; the border has a gilt line and green serrations on the rim, from which festoons of coloured flowers are painted as though suspended; the remainder of the saucer has four sprays of flowers; the underside of the saucer is plain.
