A spreading foot rises from a flat rim; above this the body flares outwards then breaks sharply into a vertical gadrooned section, topped by the the shoulder which slopes inwards to a broad, vertical rim. The rim is decorated with a silver-inlaid epigraphic band on a ground of foliate scrollwork, framed by silver-inlaid fillets.

Brass, cast and turned. Engraved with champlevé designs inlaid with silver on a hatched ground filled with black composition. Handle now missing. Patina: brown olive. Underside Patina: dark green deposits over red oxide.

Physical description
