This scroll painting or tangka depicts the Goddess Vajravidarani in the centre surrounded by Indian and Tibetan religious teachers and other deities. In her right hand Vajravidarani holds a double vajra or visvavajra, the ultimate symbol of the stability of Buddhahood. In her left she holds a bell symbolising Wisdom. Between her eyebrows you can see the third eye of supernatural wisdom. This goddess is invoked in rituals of cleansing and purification.
