A slender cylindrical mug with simple s-handle and recessed base. The foot and base are glazed and the glaze has a bluish-grey tinge where it runs thick. Painted on the face is the shield and arms of Douglas flanked by two winged horses with the motto forward on a scroll below, a coronet above, and to either side are floral sprays mainly in crimson, pink and purple between underglaze blue and gilt borders with spearheads; the handle is also in blue and gilt.
