Handbag

ca. 1931 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Between 1925 and 1930 the envelope-shaped 'pochettes' began to dominate, some with residual handles at top or back, through which the fingers could slip, others with a frame but no handle, to tuck under the arm. Some closed with an envelope flap with an asymmetrically placed metal catch, while the flap in others covered the whole side. The clasp of this bag is hallmarked and incised 'Hermès' and is thought to be one of Hermès early designs.
