This is an English pen and ink drawing on paper of the interior of the Drawing Room at Dorchester House. The famous chimney piece by Alfred Stevens is depicted in the left half of the drawing. Hanslip Fletcher, signed and dated the drawing in the bottom right corner. The drawing was made the same year, 1929, that the Dorchester House was demolished on Park Place in London for the present Dorchester Hotel.

The rococo style interior is made up of ornately carved mouldings and fluted wall pilasters with ornate capitals. The famous chimney piece by Alfred Stevens is depicted in the left half of the drawing. It is made up of two large female sculptural figures at the sides and floral carving above. A small sculptural figure is centred at the top of the chimney piece. The drawing is signed and dated in the bottom right corner. |
