Place of origin |
Brussels carpets were woven on a semi-mechanised loom. This stage in the design process is technically known as a 'point paper'. The original drawing by Walter Crane has been redrawn at a larger scale on special printed squared paper. This means that the design can be broken down into its smallest and simplest details for weaving on the loom. This sheet is in fact a technical version of the drawing for a machine and therefore the design is slightly distorted. However, you can still see the brilliant colour and skilful pattern.
