Object history
In contrast with the naturalistic portrait of Clara Butt (see poster E.460-1916), illustrator Rewald has here chosen to communicate the personality of Waldoff and advertise her recordings on Parlophon and Odeon in a manner just short of unflattering caricature.
Production
After the German Nazis won the 1933 elections and Hitler came to power, Waldoff's success came to an end.
