This poster was issued by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). The adventurous advertising managers of LNER commissioned numerous commercial and fine artists working in different styles to create extensive and exciting poster campaigns. Tom Purvis (1888-1959) designed various series to promote the East Coast. They were some of his most innovative posters, and startling in their minimalist boldness.
