Place of origin |
Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) grew up at the time when the comic book was a cultural phenomenon in the USA. He enlarged the existing Ben Dot technique, in which a screen of minute dots is used to make up the colour shading in a comic strip. In this way Lichtenstein endowed his work with the unexpectedly decorative quality of mechanical regularity. In this poster, he activates associations with political issues.
