Place of origin

Eileen Hunter, daughter of the founder and chairman of Sun Engraving Co., was a self-taught textile designer. From 1933 to 1939 she ran her own firm, Eileen Hunter Fabics, Grafton Street, London, and marketed her own designs which were block-printed by Warner & Sons. In the 1930s most textile designers and manufacturers avoided bright colours, but Eileen Hunter was an ardant campaigner against pale and dreary colours.
