Place of origin |
Georges Fouquet played a key part in the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. This exhibition popularised the style later known as Art Deco. This style was a blend of many influences. These included the geometry and abstraction found in the work of the Cubist painters and the exotic and dramatic colour combinations of the Ballets Russes. (Diaghilev's ballet company had been performing in Paris from 1909.) In this ring, Fouquet has combined geometric form with a bold use of semi-precious materials.
