This film was a classic of the Indian Cinema. This hoarding, produced in the 1980s, was crudely drawn and relied on people's knowledge of the film. It focused on the actress Nargis and also reproduced in a very crude manner one of the key scenes from the film in which the villagers begin to leave their village.

Physical description
This is a crudely drawn design which uses the title as its focus. In between the 'Mother' and the 'India' of the title is a portrait of the lead actress, Nargis and below her is a very roughly sketched image of a stream of people/villagers trailing across the landscape. Below this is a stripe of green on which is listed the director's name, the studio and most prominantly, the name of the star actress, Nargis.
