A typical example of this subject, in three pieces, viz. figure, base and arch.
A cast brass figure of the goddess Durga killing the buffalo demon Mahishasura is shown with eight arms holding (left) trident (missing), sword, arrow, and lotus and (right) discus, bow, shield and the demon's head as it emerges from the body of the buffalo. The makara torana behind has a cusped arch fringed with rounded curlicue flames with a kirttimukha at the top, under which there is a five-headed naga canopy. There are two plain metal strips riveted onto the bottom of the arch which slot into holes in the base behind the figure of the goddess who stands on a plain circular pedestal which is slotted into the base in front.
