Hanukkah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. It celebrates the victory of Judas Maccabeus over the Syrian king Antiochus Epiphanes and the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in 165 BC. This winter festival lasts eight days and an extra flame is lit for each night of the festival.

Physical description | Hanukkah lamp, consisting of a backplate, together with eight sqaure nozzled lamps all cast in one, attached along the bottom by two pins. The back is cast and pierced with two couchant lions arranged on either side of spreading scrolls of foliage above which is an urn surmounted by a standing figure of Cupid; each lion has one forepaw raised and resting upon an orb. |
