Middle East, Metalwork. For a Shamshir blade, black leather over wood, with chiselled steel mounts and gold wire stitching, a gilt and embossed copper chape, infilled with a red lacquer. Iran, C18. Islamic arms and armour. Transferred from the Indian Department to MET in 1949, RF 1949/2215. Inter-departmental transfer to MES, RF 2011/1170.
