The painting has traditionally been attributed to 'Quaker' Pegg, although the flowers appear also in a drawing -- probably a record drawing rather than a design -- by William Billingsley. The flowers are taken from John Edwards's A Collection of Flowers Drawn after Nature ..., published in 1795.

Brief description
Soup-tureen, cover and stand, soft-paste porcelain, oval, painted with botanical designs in enamel colours and gilded. Derby, about 1796
Physical description
Oval shaped, the tureen and cover with gilt acanthus-leaf handles. All three parts are painted with botanical designs after John Edwards FSA, in natural colours and all parts have gilt edges. The tureen is decorated with "Eastern Poppy" and "Various Tulips"; the cover with "Cordifolio Geranium", "Terebinthinum Geranium" and "Large Double China Aster"; the stand with "Sweet Pea" and "Nasturtium".
