Marks and inscriptions
Inscribed 'Winged bookcase; china; books' (3 times); 'make this 6 feet high'; and with mouldings identified; signed 'AW Pugin' in monogram.
Object history
The design and the details of the carving have considerable similarities with that of the long cabinet which Pugin designed for Crace for the Great Exhibition.
