Object history | Anthony Raine Barker (b. 1880, Harrow on the Hill) trained as an architect before becoming a lithographer, painter and engraver. His work typically depicted shepherd and countryside scenes, although this Portfolio is his first in Italy. The etchings range in location from Rome to Naples, illustrating everyday scenes as well as topographical landmarks around these cities. Barker was a member of the Senefelder Club (formed in London in 1909), which aimed to promote the art and the process of lithography. |
