Henry Keene; design (ceiling plan and section) for an octagonal building, probably a church or oratory, in the gothic style
Content description
Design (ceiling plan and section) for an octagonal building, probably a church or oratory, in the gothic style. E.882-1921 shows the ground plan and elevation for the same building. The building resembles Hartwell Church, built by Keene 1753-5, which is illustrated in W.H. Smyth's Aedes Hartwellianae, 1864, p. 12 and Addenda to the Aedes Hartwellianae, 1864, pp. 20-21. There are alternative designs for the church in the Bodleian Library (MS.Top.Gen.b.55 ff.29-34). See also H.M. Colvin, Biographical Dictionary.
