Physical description | Screen of wood, six-panel folding screendecorated with the technique of gold lacquer painted on a black background thus resembling the desirable but inaccessible lacquers of Japan which appealed to both Chinese and Western taste. Canton specialised in this type of gold-on-black technique and supplied to the Western as well as its own domestic market. |
