Brief description | Cover design by Walter Crane for the German Art Nouveau magazine, 'Jugend', number 51, Nov 1898. |
Credit line | Jugend (meaning youth) was a German art magazine created in Munich, 1896, by writer Georg Hirth. It's name is synonymous with many Art Nouveau artists and is the source of the term "Jugendstil", the German name for Art Nouveau. Later taken over as a vehicle for National Socialist (Nazi) propaganda in 1933, the magazine ceased publication in 1940 after the outbreak of World War Two. |
