Object history
This drawing is one of 33 loose leaves with various designs for furniture, interiors and murals etc., and dated 1872-1883.

The chair, for which this drawing is a design, was made by William Watt and shown at the Paris International Exhibition, 1878. This design with a slight variation was reproduced on p.599 of Vol.34 of The Building News, 1878.
