Object history
Registered File number 1994/1072, Streetstyle exhibition 1994-1995, in the exhibition it was part of an outfit called 'Traveller UK 1994' (a young child traveller outfit ; that includes the poncho T.1039-1994, the skirt T.1040-1994, the tights T.1041 and the booties T.1042-1994).
Historical context
'Members of the Donga Tribe helped Fraggle assemble this garments outfit by contributing tiny garments which they had acquired at different times and various sources. Their budge is limited and new clothes are not central to their existence so, in a time-honoured tradition, clothes are passed down form brothers and sisters. Babies are often given gifts of handmade garments. Elements such as the patchwork poncho and rainbow hat mirror the style of adult travellers.'
