Place of origin |
Saddle cloth of woollen broadcloth embroidered with silk. The side panels are decorated with stylised motifs, and with silver and silk tassels around the edges. Roughly rectangular with additional triangular panels applied to the front sides and falls over the horse's shoulders. These panels and a large applied dome-shaped panel to lie over the neck, are patterned with a symmetrical arrangement of heart-shaped compartments, cone-forms and rosettes in colours on an orange ground. The rear part of the cloth has an aperture for the tail edged with scalloped green leather, and the corners are reinforced with openwork brown leather panels. The weighting tassels consist of large chowri-like pendants from which hang three similar and smaller pendants.
