This fragment is from a bed hanging. The yellow satin is embroidered in coloured silks with two coats of arms. They belong to James Brydges, created first Duke of Chandos in 1719, and to Cassandra Willoughby, his second wife, who died in 1735.

Physical description | Panel fragment of embroidered silk satin in coloured silks and with appliqued velvet. The yellow satin is embroidered in coloured silks with the coats of arms of James Brydges, created first Duke of Chandos in 1719, and those of Cassandra Willoughby, his second wife, who died in 1735. The rest of the ground is covered with a symmetrical pattern of curved floral stems and pots of flowers. Silk cord edging. From a bed hanging. |
