Object history
The design was commissioned by Stanley Morrison in about 1939 for Burns, Oats & Washbourne, but was not used by them. A reproduction appeared in The Tablet, October 1951, and the design was used as a book jacket for a new edition of the New Testament, possibly the translation by Charles Kingsley Williams, published by Longman's Green & Co. 1952.
