Pendant Ceiling Light: Hêtre (Beech) Designed by René Lalique (French, 1860-1945) Made by Lalique glassworks, Wingen-sur-Moder, France, 1924-1940 Press-moulded glass, with a matt-etched finish Circ.485-1970 René Lalique was an established and innovative jewellery designer, based at 60 Cours de la Reine, Paris from 1902. His rediscovery of 'demi-crystal', a ductile and stable material which allowed quality moulded glass to be mass-produced, encouraged a prolific output of designs in the 1920s. In 1928 Lalique's work became available in the Breves Gallery, Knightsbridge, London.'
