Brush drawing in ink on paper, partly tinted in watercolour, with colour notes throughout. Krishna returns with his fellow cowherds to Gokula at the hour of dusk. Krishna plays his flute, to the accompaniment of a drum and flute played by his companions, while others drive forward the cattle as they pass through a doorway into the inner garth. Women returning with filled water pots from the well stand to watch him pass, and from the windows of the surrounding houses other women look down and some point to the god. Upon a housetop to the left is a company of musicians.
