Marks and inscriptions | Inscribed 'Dunolly' and signed and dated in monogram 'PPP / 78'. |
Object history | The departmental records describes this piece as showing a view of the reservoir at Dunolly, East Lothian. It is more likely this looks over the waters near Dunollie Castle in Argyll and Bute. The Pencil marks next to the inscribed word 'Dunolly' at the left of the page is possibly a signature 'PPP,' indicating Peter Paul Pugin as its artist, however this is unclear. The number '78' could refer to the year of creation, or be a part of a numbering system. |
