This grotesque Pierette wearing a half-mask or domino is reminiscent of Beardsley’s design for the headpiece of the ‘Stageland’ column in ‘To-day’, to which he contributed during three months of 1894, and it looks forward to the masked Pierrot-hair-dresser in ‘The Toilette of Salome’, first version (nos. 933 and 871 below). Here, however, the figure is a full-length nude thrust into view by its huge ruff and cape that is open in invitation or to display hanging breasts, broad hips and clearly outlined pudendum. The mask leads the eye to the breast-shapes in the hair and the coquettishly tilted head and pursed mouth. Research yielded no comment about this drawing.
