Object history | Historical significance: The carpet was commissioned by Madge Garland, Lady Ashton, for her flat in Bruton Street and was delivered in 1931. The colours were chosen to harmonise with the interior, a scheme in which white and dark brown predominated, relieved by divan cushions of pale yellow and pale blue natural silk and a glass topped table of green-blue. (Information supplied by Lady Ashton). |
