Marks and inscriptions | : Inscribed on the linen, at the back of the sheet "No. 3" |
Object history | The style of the uniforms appear to match those of the North Somerset Yeomanry in use between 1830 and 1842. The linen may have been applied to as an early repair as the sheet has been thorn at the centre. This design is by the same hand as 9274.21. Drawings numbers 9274.1-29 are or were all pasted into a stitched set of pages which have been incorporated into a modern museum binding and mounted out of chronological order. They date from c. 1820 to c. 1850 and may possibly originate from the same workshop. 9274.1-29 bought from the dealer E. Parsons 17th June 1884 for 2 pounds and 10 shillings. |
