Linen darning sampler worked in coloured silks using a series of darning patterns. In the centre is a square marked out by red patterns. It contains the initials 'M.P.' and the date '1820' worked in dark green in Algerian eye stitch. Below is the inscription 'OUD 14 YAAR' in yellow cross stitch. This central motif is surrounded by eight darning patterns in green, pink, yellow, red, blue and cream silk threads.
