This roller-printed cotton furnishing fabric was manufactured by F. Steiner & Co. in the 1920s. The design is of imitation Egyptian tomb paintings, with hieroglyphs and cartouches. There was a craze for Egyptian style objects following Howard Carter's excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.
