Place of origin

This furnishing fabric called ‘Modern Slubb’ is made from rayon and cotton. It was woven in France about 1931. From the late 1920s designs were increasingly abstract and more muted in colour. Textural effects began to assume more importance. The pattern of this fabric makes a feature of the contrast between the silkiness of the man-made fibres and the matte texture of the natural fibres.
