This carpet was designed by Victor Boberman for DIM in 1928-1929. Acrobats are depicted in an abstract, schematic style and the initials ‘DIM’ appear in cream in the pile. The Maison de Décoration Intérieure Moderne (DIM) was an avant-garde French association of furniture designers. It was founded by René Joubert in 1919.

Physical description | Carpet of hand-knotted wool with jute warp, mixed weft and mixed, mainly wool, pile with Turkish type knots. Dark brown ground with a sweeping, linear, figurative design of three acrobats in action. The outline of the bodies and their ropes, etc. is in cream and dark pink. |
