This glass panel depicts ‘The Good Thief on the Cross’. According to the four Gospels of the New Testament, Christ was crucified between two thieves. On Christ's right side was the 'Good Thief', shown here. He repented of his crimes and asked for Christ's forgiveness. He was promised salvation: 'Today you shall be with me in Paradise.’

Gerhard Remisch was a glass painter and head of a prolific workshop in the Rhineland in the period 1500-1600.
